About MeHi there! I am a passionate lover of learning for myself and others. It has always been important for me to design learning experiences that are engaging and culturally responsive AND that those learning experiences tackle real world problems.
After receiving my degree from UC Berkeley in English, I started my career as an English teacher tasked with designing experiences that helped students write better and analyze literature. I found my niche in education teaching English Language Learners because it demanded a unique curriculum that was culturally responsive and needed to be differentiated. In 2006, I received my M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Computer Science Education and Technology. I moved into developing and facilitating online courses and being part of a design team for an online school working to improve online instruction. I have worked on projects to help train learners in different technology tools and learning management systems, design digital portfolios and have acted as a facilitator for global projects. I enjoy having my hands in all aspects of the learning experience design process from needs analyses to development to facilitation and then on to evaluation and reiteration. For me, the need for continued education, to learn from experts, build tech skills and observe best practices is one of the highlights of being a Learning Experience Designer. I currently reside in Raleigh, North Carolina with my husband and two beautiful children. I love boxing, cycling, scuba diving, traveling, tinkering with technology, and spending time with my family. |
